High- End Bathroom Renovation Upper Hutt

Updated: Sep 16

Our clients have lived in their property for 30 years and plan to retire there.

They had a dream of creating an oasis and spa-like bathroom that would also be accessible in case they needed walking aids in the future.

We worked with them from concept to completion, bringing their vision to life. Initially, we had to transform a classic 1970s 3-way split bathroom into a separate toilet and bathroom wing with wide cavity slider openings.

While the job looked easy on paper, renovating an older home always comes with its unknowns. However, we were determined to make it happen, and we succeeded in transforming their bathroom into a beautiful and functional space.

Design and Consent Process

We engaged our trusted architectural draughtsman from Pzazz Design.

Pzazz handles it all from consent drawings, design specifications, and submitting and liaising with the council for your building consent.

Interior Decorating/Design

Our client wanted top spec, so she engaged Bella Casa to assist her with choosing the fixing and finishes of her bathroom.

We are talking:

  • Marble stone vanities

  • Smart toilet

  • Italian tiles

Building Process

We started by stripping out all of the internal walls separating the 3 spaces, removing necessary bracing, creating 2 spaces and installing new bracing as per the council-approved plans. It was here we uncovered severely out of plumb walls and missing subfloor framing.

  • Cavity slider doors needed to be custom-built due to their size and weight

  • Wet room shower - the whole floor needed to be dropped below to exiting subfloor to allow correct angles for drainage and tile positioning.

  • The built-in shower shelf had to be EXACT, there was no room for error when constructing this section of the bathroom. Any measurements off by even a millimetre meant that the imported Italian tiles would not align.
